Dermal clinicians are allied health professionals, however our services are generally not covered by private health insurance. Medicare rebates do not apply. All fees are inclusive of GST, and are payable on the day of the appointment.

Referrals are not required for any of our consultations.

If you are currently under the care of a medical practitioner or specialist, or if you have a complex health history, we may ask for medical clearance prior to commencing treatments. Referrals or a health summary from your GP may also help with continuity of care for your condition.

Dermal Clinicians are allied health professionals with expertise in skin health. Their scope of practice is determined by the Australian Society of Dermal Clinicians (ASDC), who are affiliate members of AHPRA.

Dermal Clinicians provide skin health services to assist with managing common skin problems and can provide advice and management to assist with common conditions and disorders relating to skin,

adipose, hair, and nails. They can assess and manage within their scope of practice acute and chronic skin conditions that may be associated with medical and chronic health conditions or skin changes as part of their treatment. More common client groups include but are not limited to those seeking cosmetic medical or surgical procedures, the aged, diabetics, people with vascular disease, lymphatic

dysfunction, and cancer.

Dermal Clinicians can further specialise in different areas. This includes specialisation as a Lymphoedema Practitioner offer specialised oedema management to assess and manage chronic oedema, lymphoedema or undergoing cancer treatment.

Dermal therapy involves specialised, non-surgical clinical treatments designed to improve skin health, function, and appearance. Performed by Dermal Clinicians and Dermal Therapists, Dermal Therapy addresses a range of common skin conditions and cosmetic concerns.

Dermal Clinicians are degree-qualified allied-health professionals who see clients with medical skin conditions, in addition to cosmetic concerns. Dermal Therapists are advanced aestheticians who provide advanced cosmetic services in line with skin health principles.

Dermal Therapies may include topical therapies, specialised skincare, energy-based treatments, lasers and adjunctive management with a dermatologist. At TDOC we only use TGA approved and medical-grade  dermal therapies to improve skin health, appearance and function.

At TDOC we see clients for:

  • Non-invasive scar therapy
  • Hormonal skin changes, laxity and aging
  • Rosacea, acne, eczema, dermatitis and sun damage.
  • Cellulite and skin laxity
  • Tele-Dermatology Referrals and Assessments
  • General skin health concerns are also welcome.

At TDOC, you will require a medical clearance for treatment or dermatological referral if your skin condition is related to:

  • Vascular disease
  • Certain Medications
  • or the cause is unknown.

At TDOC, we do NOT manage infectious, cancerous or auto-immune conditions.  We do not manage allergic reactions, active infections or open wounds. We do not perform lesion removal or offer advanced lasers for pigmentation, laser scar reduction, cometic injectable treatments, procedures such as threads, or vascular laser treatments.

Oedema Therapy is a broad term to describe therapies that alleviate fluid retention, inflammation and swelling. Oedema (swelling) is a symptom of many common medical conditions, as well as health and lifestyle factors.

You do not need to have a medical condition to experience fluid retention and inflammation. Chronic stress, sedentary lifestyle, intense exercise, certain foods and medications, frequent flying, standing for long hours, weight gain and natural aging processes can all contribute to oedema.

Certain medical conditions may contribute to inflammation and/or oedema, including IBS, fibromyalgia, endometriosis, menopause, andropause (male), heart failure, oncology treatments, and pregnancy. Whilst not a treatment for these conditions, oedema therapy may help alleviate symptoms and improve client's quality of life.

Lipoedema and Lymphoedema are irreversible conditions which involve lymphatic insufficiency -causing oedema. This oedema may be localised (e.g. near the site of an injury to the lymphatic vessels) or widespread like in lipoedema. Oedema therapy forms part of the ongoing management of these conditions, in conjunction with other management strategies.

At TDOC, you will require a medical clearance for treatment if your oedema is related to:

Heart Failure

  • Post Oncology Oedema
  • Post Operative Oedema
  • Thyroid disease – such as hypothyroidism
  • Certain Medications
  • Pregnancy
  • or the cause is unknown.

At TDOC, we do NOT manage oedema related to certain medical conditions that may cause fluid retention, including:

  • Chronic lung diseases – such as severe emphysema
  • Kidney disease – such as nephrotic syndrome and acute glomerulonephritis
  • Liver disease – such as severe cirrhosis that triggers liver failure
  • Malignant lymphoedema – cancerous tumours that block structures of the lymphatic system, such as the lymph nodes
  • Arthritis – joints affected by some types of arthritis tend to swell with fluid
  • Allergic reactions
  • Active Infection
  • Infectious Diseases
  • Preeclampsia
  • Autoimmune diseases – such as lupus
  • hereditary angioedema (HAE)

Please see your doctor or specialist for management options.
