Prolonged lymphoedema and vascular insufficiency can significantly affect skin health. These conditions often lead to persistent swelling in the legs and arms, accompanied by thickening of the skin, hyperkeratosis, discoloration, skin fragility and itchiness.

As these conditions progress, the skin may become fragile and more susceptible to breakdown, resulting in lipodermatosclerosis and hard-to-heal wounds.

When Can I see a Dermal Clinician?

Our ALA-accredited lymphoedema practitioner, Genevieve Topalov, provides comprehensive assessments and tailored treatment plans to address skin changes, promote healing, and enhance your overall skin health.

Skin Thickening: Noticeable thickening or hardening of the skin.
Discoloration: Pigmented 'stains' or changes in skin colour, particularly around the ankles.
Fragile Skin: Skin that feels fragile or is prone to breakdown and injury.
Dry, Flaky, or Scaly Skin: Skin that appears dry, flaky, or scaly, including hyperkeratosis and venous eczema/ stasis dermatitis.
Bumps and Blisters: Development of bumps (papilloma) or small blisters.
Prone to Wounds: Hard-to-heal wounds that are slow to recover. *Please note that while we can offer adjunctive therapies to support skin recovery, we do not provide wound care services. We recommend consulting your GP, specialist, or nursing team for medical management. Our services are adjunctive to medical wound care.

Consultations

$285 Consultation Fee

*Referrals are required for clients with complex oedema and who are under medical care from a GP and/ or specialist. This includes clients with vascular disease, diabetes, poor kidney or liver function, heart failure and clients who are prone to recurrent infections.
